Movement for Canadian Literacy has a thirty year history of providing a national forum for literacy organizations, practitioners and learners across Canada. Our membership transcends all sectors with local and national representation from libraries, immigration, public health, adult education, family literacy, to name just a few. Membership is open to organizations, businesses and individuals who share in our mission to advance literacy and essential skills across Canada.
Benefits of membership:
Coalition membership is available to one literacy coalition in each province and territory. A literacy coalition is selected by the various literacy organizations in their province or territory. The organizations choose the coalition best qualified to represent literacy at the national level. Each coalition sends one representative to sit as a voting member of MCL's board. One learner representative from each coalition may join the Learners’ Advisory Network (LAN) committee. The coalition is responsible for distributing MCL information to their members.
General membership is available to individuals who support the work of MCL and who wish to receive all MCL communications in a direct and timely manner. General members may attend and speak at the AGM and other special meetings although they do not have voting rights.
Organizational membership is available to organizations that support the work of MCL and wish to receive all MCL communications in a direct and timely manner. A representative of the organization may attend and speak at the AGM and other special meetings although they do not have voting rights.
International subscriptions are available to organizations and individuals outside of Canada who wish to receive MCL's publications.

The Adult Learning Network (ALN) is pleased to announce its up-coming Lifelong Learning Forum that will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa. You are invited to participate in plenary sessions to discuss the strategy to implement a Canadian Lifelong Learning Network. The Forum will also host workshops dedicated to the topic of the analysis of a culture of lifelong learning. The goal of the Forum is to provide a venue where Anglophone, Francophone and Aboriginal learning communities will join to share promising practices, discuss new research and be informed of the results of UNESCO’s CONFINTEA VI. The idea of an Adult Learners Charter for Canada, as well as suggestions for activities related to Adult Learner's Week 2011 will be included.
The event will precede the Canadian Association for Prior Learning Assessment (CAPLA) Recognizing Learning conference held November 7-9, 2010 at the same location.
